Items may have a unique quality like Cure or Repair. Or they may have tiers like armor pieces, e.g., Boots 1 and Boots 2. And they may have tiers and levels like weapons, e.g., Sword 1 Level 1 and Sword 1 Level 2. As a rule of thumb the higher the tier or the higher the level the better the item. But there are exceptions to that rule, too.

Combinations

Combining the same item with different tiers and levels results in the same item of the higher tier and the higher tier's level plus half of the other level.

Example

Axe 3 Level 1 + Axe 1 Level 2 = Axe 3 Level 2

  • Axe Tier 3 is higher than Axe Tier 1, therefore the resulting item is an Axe Tier 3
  • The higher tier axe has Level 1, the lower tier axe is Level 2, therefore the resulting level is 1 plus half of 2, equals 1 + 1, equals 2

To level up a weapon, just combine it with Tier 1, Level 1 of the same weapon.

Example

Sword 3 Level 5 + Sword 1 Level 1 = Sword 3 Level 6

The above rule always holds, also when combining different items to form a new one. E.g. creating Celtis 1 by combining Shot 2 and Hammer 1. But, if you combine items of the same tier to form a new item, the rule does not apply and the levels are simply added together without any penalty.

Rule applies

Shot 2 Level 1 + Hammer 1 Level 4 = Celtis 1 Level 3

Higher tier level 1 + half of lower tier level 4 = level 3.

Rule does not apply

Shot 1 Level 1 + Hammer 1 Level 4 = Celtis 1 Level 5

There if no higher tier item. Level 1 + Level 4 = level 5.
